We all remember watching Julie Andrews play “Mary Poppins” on the big screen. The magic that she was able to spin in controlling the children and keeping the house straight may be almost the same kind of magic that a Denver Nanny may work for you in your home!

    What is a Nanny?

While in the United States nannies were normally hired exclusively by wealthy families, they have been quite popular in Europe and the rest of the world for a very long time.

According to about.com/childcare, “The function of a nanny is to essentially be responsible for all care of the children in the home in a largely unsupervised setting. Duties are typically focused on childcare and any household chores or tasks related to the children. A nanny may or may not have any formal training; however, many have significant actual experience.”

Your Denver Nanny is “an extended member of your family.” (www.about.com/childcare) Therefore, he or she must have your complete trust. Also, since the Denver Nanny.

    When Do Nannies Work?

“A nanny typically works full-time of at least 40 hours a week.”(www.about.com/childcare) Also, your Denver Nanny should be able to accompany the family on vacation trips, in order that you are able to enjoy your holidays without the additional stress of having to watch the children and deprive yourself (and spouse/significant other, if applicable) of being able to participate in adult-only activities such as going out dancing or enjoying a romantic evening on board a cruise liner.

Your Denver Nanny does not have to live with you 24/7. You have choices as to whether the placement includes full-time, part-time, live-in, live-out and even just after school.”(www.ananny4u.com)

    Where Do Nannies Work?

Your Denver Nanny will work, normally, out of your own home. Your Denver Nanny will work wherever he or she is assigned by you, to perform the required duties assigned by you. With proper authorization and, if you hire a nanny that drives, he or she will even be able to drop off and pick up the kid(s) to and from school.

He or she will also supervise your children wherever they go. Your Denver Nanny will be you, when you are not there with your kid(s).

How Much Does A Nanny Cost?

The current rates for nannies vary from city to city and state to state. According to ananny4u LLC, “nannies earn between $11/hr and $18/hr depending on the number of children, the job description, and the nanny’s experience.” Also, there are placing fees to be considered, which ananny4u breaks down, as follows:

    “Permanant Placement Fees:

    1. The permanent placement fee varies depending on your childcare needs.
    2. There is a $100 Application Processing Fee which includes the search for your perfect nanny.
    3. For a part-time placement of a nanny who works up to 29 hours a week, the fee is $1300.00.
    4. For a placement of a nanny working 30 hours or more a week, the fee is $1700.00.
    5. There is a 90 day guarantee if a replacement nanny is needed. After the 90 days, a prorated credit will be applied to a new nanny placement.”
    Additional Responsilibities

If your kid(s) are at that age that constant supervision is not required, your Denver Nanny may also perform other household chores during her hours in your home. Those chores include vacuuming, laundry, dusting and picking up the kid(s) room(s).

Other chores which you may assign your Denver Nanny include going grocery shopping, picking up/dropping off the laundry and caring after the family pet(s). Naturally, the more extra-curricular chores you assign a Denver Nanny, the more it will cost you.

    Nannies for Seniors

Another new trend is that of hiring the services of a nanny for a senior member of your family living with you. With costs of nursing homes being so expensive, it is also acceptable to hire your Denver Nanny to look after your aging parent(s) in either their home or yours. It is best to consider hiring a male nanny due to physical, weight and health related conditions.

A Denver Nanny would be responsible for taking your seniors to doctors’ appointments, on walks, in doing physical therapy or, simply as company to play cards or help them keep their home / living area tidy.

    Horror Stories

We have all watched those video clips on the news where it was discovered through video that the nanny was abusing the children either physically, verbally or, worse of all – both! In spite of the fact that agencies hiring out help of this nature check their nannies out, prior to placing them anywhere, sometimes through no fault of their own undesirable individuals slip through the cracks. Therefore, it is advisable that whenever hiring someone from the outside into your home, to place video cameras – preferably, hidden and unbeknownst to the care provider, to record all activity taking place in your home during your absence. Also, in case of any possible wrong-doing, you have physical evidence in your favor.
